Caroline Edwards and Wiley Nickel
Written By Danielle Caspar
Caroline Edwards and Wiley Nickel met in London, England, where they were both interns. This fortuitous meeting developed into a long-distance courtship for a year and a half while Caroline completed her senior year at UNC-Chapel Hill and Wiley finished his second year of law school at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
After graduating from UNC, Caroline entered the law program at Pepperdine, bringing her closer to her favorite man. At Wiley's graduation, he confided to Caroline's grandma, Helen, that Caroline was the girl for him. In December, 2005, Wiley proposed to Caroline while the two were on a romantic trip in Hawaii, and Caroline eagerly replied, "Yes." The couple returned home and begun to make plans to have the "best wedding ever."
Caroline found a gorgeous wedding dress at Alexia's Bridal Boutique in Cary. The wedding ceremony they had dreamed of was held at Good Hope Baptist Church in Cary and was officiated by Reverend Robert Weatherspoon. Flowers on Broad Street transformed the small country sanctuary into a spectacular place to celebrate their love, with floral's dripping from the baptismal creating the perfect backdrop for the service.
The wedding party moved to Prestonwood Country Club's grand ballroom after the ceremony for a splendid wedding reception with their closest friends and family members. Music was provided by the fabulous Shades, and Prestonwood crafted a signature pear cocktail — a special touch that personalized their celebration.
Guests from across the country and hometown folks, too, enjoyed the special evening that slipped away all too quickly. However, the best memories will forever remain for everyone as they look back on the day that Caroline and Wiley made their own.
