Laura Frazier & Ed Goode
Written By Danielle Caspar
Laura Frazier and Ed Goode were married June 23, 2007, at the historic China Grove Plantation near Oriental, N.C. The renovated plantation house was first built in 1803 and faces the mouth of the scenic Neuse River. The wedding ceremony took place on the front lawn, overlooking the water, which provided a gentle, cooling breeze for the intimate gathering.
The bridal party consisted of the bride and groom's close friends from childhood and college — best man Alexis Mueller, Jason Elliott, Tim Danford, maid of honor Carissa Portone, Alycen Ashburn and Laura's brother, Will, filling the role of "bridesman." After the ceremony, guests made their way across the lawn to the reception, which was set up under several tents. The theme for the decorations was "pink, pink and more pink," since it is the bride's favorite color. A personal chef cooked a fresh feast including shrimp scampi and her own signature dish, chicken marsala with artichoke hearts and mushrooms.
In place of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for different cakes on each of the seven reception tables, including mouthwatering peanut butter chocolate chip cheesecake and mango butter cream. The cakes, provided by Sweet Magnolia Cakes and Catering, were the runaway hit of the reception, and guests took turns visiting all the other tables to sample as many cakes as possible. In August, Laura and Ed went to Paris for their honeymoon. They enjoyed sleeping late, eating lots of cheese and taking in the sights in the city of light.
